Day 1:
Upon arrival, enjoy a reception and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon enjoy a city tour of La Paz as you travel through its main avenues and squares. Visit the House Museum of Murillo, Indian markets and Moon Valley.
Day 2:
Depart by bus to Huatajata. Upon arrival, board a Hydrofoil boat to cross the Sacred lake of Incas, Titicaca, until reaching Sun Island. Eat lunch. At Sun Island visit the tourist complex where we will go through its Inca terraces. See typical plants and Andean camelids such as lamas, alpacas and huanacos. Visit the Site Museum and the blessing in accordance with an old tradition Kallawaya. Return to Juli and continue our trip to the hotel in Puno.
Day 3:
In the morning, enjoy a short excursion to the sacred lake of the Incas, Titcaca. Visit the Floating Islands of the Uros Community, an old pre-Inca community that took refuge from the colonists on the waters of this lake. See how native people make their rafts using totora reeds and junco (plants) of the lake. In the afternoon, we will depart by bus to the pre-Inca cemetery of Hatun Colla Chiefs in Sillustani. It lies on the shore of the Lake Umayo. Such burial tombs, called “Chullpas,” may reach as high as 6 meters tall. Afterwards we will return to Puno.
Day 4:
Transfer to the train station to board first class on the train Andean Explorer for an awesome trip to Cusco. This is considered the highest train in the world, crossing the Andes at over 4000 meters. The train will stop at La Raya. During the trip enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape and snow-covered mountains of “Cordillera Chimboya.” These mountains are the birth place of the River Vilcanota which runs north to reach the jungle of Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. The train has a panoramic coach from where you can enjoy the beautiful landscape. Lunch is on board. Upon arrival enjoy a reception and transfers to the hotel.
Day 5:
In the morning ascend to the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman where we will visit Q´engo, the old temple of the Puma. Inside you can see a sacrificial alter made of a huge stone. At Tambomachay see the sacred fountains of life and health. Puca Pucará, “atalaya” (watchtower) safeguarded the city gates and the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman. This beautiful place radiates peace and calmness. Enjoy views of the huge stones that were used in its construction, some reaching 4 meters high. In the afternoon, we will visit the imperial city of Cusco. Enter the Cathedral of Cusco to view of beautiful woodwork and colonial paintings containing extensive Incan iconography. Visit the Korikancha (Temple of Inti God - El Sol) on which the Santo Domingo Convent was built. Legend says this temple was completely gold coated, which impressed the conquerors upon their arrival. In the neighborhood of San Blas, with its artisans, we will visit the church of San Blas to see its impressively carved woodwork. Then there will be time to do some shopping at the most famous artisans´ market in the city.
Day 6:
You will be transferred to the station to board the train to the citadel of Machu Picchu, the Sacred City, considered by some to be the new spiritual center of the world. Travel through corridors as you visit the ceremonial centers and terraces. After a buffet lunch we will return to Cusco by train in the afternoon. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 7:
Transfer to the airport for your departure to Lima. Upon arrival enjoy a reception and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon we will tour the old city of Viceroys visiting it’s main streets, avenues, residential quarters, main square, cathedral, Church of San Francisco and the Presidential Palace.
Day 8:
Transfer to the airport.
