TOUR: THE CITY OF THE KINGS - LIMA CITY TOUR

Lima is the capital city of Peru, as well as the largest and most important city in the country. It is located in Peru’s central coast, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, in the valleys of the Chillon, Rimac and Lurin Rivers. It constitutes a whole urban area along with the Port of El Callao. It was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro on January the 18th of 1535, as The City of the Kings. It was the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru during the Spanish regime and after the independence it became the capital of the Republic of Peru.

CITY TOUR LIMA
Guided tour along the most important places in Lima that contributed to its history. The tour begins in the Historic Center of Lima, sightseeing the San Martin Plaza, Plaza Mayor, Palace of Government, Basilica Cathedral, Archiepiscopal Palace, Municipal Palace, Church of Santo Domingo, where the tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin de Porres, important saints for the Peruvians, are located and the balconies of the Colonial Lima.

Then we will visit the Church and Covent of San Francisco, the largest monumental compound of colonial art in America and World Cultural Heritage. The tour includes a visit to the basilica of 21 altars, the convent of cloisters and the chapter and Clementine rooms, the choir and library of the monks, the field museum, which exhibits 11 canvases by the school of Rubens, the Sacristy with canvases by Zurbaran and Rivera, the great patio decorated with glazed tiles of the XVI century from Seville, the Moorish arcs arcos and the subterranean catacombs.

Later we will visit the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, to appreciate the difference between the old city and the new and modern Lima, without leaving behind our rich history, which can be appreciated in this zone of Lima too, represented by the Huaca Pucllana, a ceremonial and administrative center of the Lima Culture, built in the II century AD and regarded by the Incas as the Ñaupallaqta or "Sacred People"; the park of El Olivar of San Isidro, with olive trees brought in from Spain in the XV century; Miraflores’ Central Park and Larcomar, a tourist and entertainment center, symbol of modern Lima and privileged spot to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Lastly, return to the hotel.
