SANTA CRUZ TREK - RESERVATIONS - CORDILLERA BLANCA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

a)Trekking de Santa Cruz - Llanganuco (5 days)
General descriptionThe Santa Cruz - Llanganuco trek is the second but best known trekking in the country (after the famous Inca Trail in Machu Picchu). While walking, you will catch sight of waterfalls, lagoons with crystal water, flora and fauna until the end of the valley where you are surrounded by impressive snow covered mountains like Taulliraju, Alpamayo, Artesonraju and others. From the pass Punta Union (4750 m) you have an impressive view of almost the whole Santa Cruz valley and of the Huaripampa valley, which is on the other side of the Cordillera Blanca. This stretch of way culminates in the Llanganuco valley, from where you can see snowcapped Huascaran (highest mountain in Peru), Huandoy, Pisco and other mountains.

b) Trekking de Santa Cruz - Vaquería (4 days)
General description
The Santa Cruz - Vaqueria trek is the second but best known trekking in the country (after the famous Inca Trail in Machu Picchu). While walking, you will catch sight of waterfalls, lagoons with crystal water, flora and fauna until the end of the valley where you are surrounded by impressive snow covered mountains like Taulliraju, Alpamayo, Artesonraju and others. From the pass Punta Union (4750 m) you have an impressive view of almost the whole Santa Cruz valley and of the Huaripampa valley, which is on the other side of the Cordillera Blanca. This stretch of way culminates in Vaqueria.

ITINERARY

English version

Day 1
Transport from the city of Caraz/Huaraz to Cashapampa (2950m), starting point of this classical trekking of the Cordillera Blanca until the camp of Llamacoral (3750m)
Total time of hiking: 5 to 6 hours.

Day 2
Hiking to the second camp, Taullipampa (4250m). On this day, it is also possible to visit the base camp of the snowy mountain Alpamayo, considered as the most beautiful mountain in the world. This alternative hike requires some additional hours of walking.
Total time of hiking: 6 to 7 hours (including additional hike).

Day 3
Crossing of the Punta Union pass (4750m). From the Taullipampa camp you ascend a difference in elevation of 500 m to reach the pass. Descent along the valley of Huaripampa to the Cachenanpampa camp (3700m) on the other slope of the Cordillera Blanca.
Total time of hiking: 7 to 8 hours.

Day 4
Hiking to the end of the Huaripampa valley and walking up until Vaqueria (3735m). In this place the trek comes to an end and we take the bus back to Caraz/Huaraz.
Total time of hiking: 7 to 8 hours.

Transporte desde la ciudad de Caraz / Huaraz a Cashapampa (2950m), punto de inicio de este clásico trekking de la Cordillera Blanca hacia el campamento de Llamacorral (3750m),
Tiempo total de jornada: 5 - 6 horas.

Día 2
Caminata hasta el segundo campamento, Taullipampa (4250m). En este día también es posible visitar el campo base del nevado Alpamayo, considerada la montaña más bella del mundo. Este trek adicional requiere unas horas más de caminata.
Tiempo total de jornada: 6 -7 horas (incluye caminata alternativa).

Día 3
Travesía del paso de Punta Unión (4750m). Desde el campamento Taullipampa se asciende un desnivel de 500m para alcanzar el paso. Descenso a lo largo del Valle de Huaripampa hasta el campamento Cachenanpampa (3700m) en la otra vertiente de la Cordillera Blanca.
Tiempo total de jornada: 7 - 8 horas

.Día 4
Se Camina al final del Valle de Huaripampa y se asciende hasta Vaquería (3735m), En este punto finaliza el trekking y se toma el bus de retorno a Caraz/ Huaraz.
Tiempo total de jornada: 7 - 8 horas.
