ITINERARY

Day 1.-
Pick up at airport by local guide and transfer to the agency office in the city of Puerto Maldonado. Arrival at the port where our boat is waiting to take us on a river journey of about an hour to the 5 km trail that leads through the jungle to beautiful Lake Sandoval. We make our way to our chosen accommodation (A or B), and a after a brief rest we set out in a rowing boat to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the rainforest from the still lake waters. We return to our accomodations and before supper enjoy a short but interesting walk to discover the nocturnal creatures that come out at night: insects, frogs and nocturnal life. Supper and bed

Day 2.-
We rise before dawn at 5.00am to boat on the still dawn waters and discover the early risers of mother nature: hoatzins, greater Annie, anhinga, cormorants and, with a little luck, monkeysAfter breakfast and a brief rest we leave for a trek through the jungle during which our guide will show us medicinal plants and explain their applications and explain more about the connections between trees and animals and the cycles of life in the jungle. Majestic trees with breathtaking jungle vegetation form a background to this outing on which our appreciation of the interconnectedness of man and his environment will be enhancedLunch is followed by another opportunity to sail the waters of the lake and the afternoon ends with another unforgettable sunset over the lake. As night falls the brilliant eyes of the crocodiles, or black caimans as they are locally known, living in the lake, reflect the beams from our flashlights. The jungle comes alive at night with the onset of darkness and cooler temperatures and we are lulled to sleep by its music in this remote and beautiful spot

Day 3.-
After an early start and breakfast we once again take to the trail leading to the river where we embark for the river trip to Puerto Maldonado; on the way the parrots and macaws perched amongst the leaves of the palm trees seem to wish us well on our journey and thank us for our brief visit to this magical place teeming with wildlife and our communion with the spirit of the Amazon. Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado a bus awaits to transport us to the airport where we say goodbye and the next adventure of life begins
