Day 1
Transport by bus from the city of Caraz/Huaraz to the village of Collon (3500m). It is the starting point of the hike to approach these three mountains. We walk along the valley to the base camp of Ishinca (4350m).
Total time: 5 to 6 hours.
Day 2
Climbing Urus. - Following a steep penchant, we cross the moraine, that goes more than 700 meters underneath the snow line. We reach a little pass and we climb along the ridge that leads to the summit of this mountain (5495m). On the side of the moraine and the glacier, this peak requires more effort and good acclimatisation, because there is an altitude difference of 1100 meters in little more than five hours.
Total time: 7 to 8 hours.
Day 3
Climbing snow covered Ishinca. - Ascending a moderate penchant, we reach a little valley, then cross the moraine and walk along a glacial lake to the glacier tongue. We climb to the pass and then follow the ridge that leads to the summit of Ishinca (5530m). On this mountain, it is possible to return on the opposite ridge, passing underneath Ranrapalca (6162m). Like this, we do a circuit without repeating the route on the descent.
Total time: 9 to 10 hours.
Day 4
We start to climb snowcapped Tocllaraju. From the base camp we cross the valley in northeast direction to later climb a steep footpath to the high camp of this mountain (5250m).
Total time: 4 to 5 hours.
Day 5
Climbing to the summit of Tocllaraju. Surmounting small penchants and ice roofs that require more effort, we reach the northwest ridge. Then we follow less inclined ridges until there is a crevasse at the foot of a wall. We cross the big crevasse and climb the small wall (50 to 65 degrees) to reach a small ridge that leads to the summit (6034m). Return to the base camp.
Total time: 10 to 11 hours.
Day 6
Return from the base camp to the village of Collon. Transport by bus from Collon to Caraz.
Total time: 5 to 6 hours.
